This fall, parishioner Sofia Livorsi will begin working part time at our parish to reestablish our youth ministry programs for elementary, junior high, and high school.  Sofia currently runs the St. Patrick’s Children’s Liturgy program and is a member of the Choir and of God’s Helping Hands.  She and her husband Dan are involved in the Engaged Couples Sponsors program and the Creation Care Team.  Sofia, Dan and their three children have been members of St. Patrick’s since moving to Iowa City in 2015.

Sofia has been a stay-at-home mom for the past eleven years, but prior to having children she worked as a fourth grade teacher within the Catholic school system.  She has an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction from Loyola University Chicago and a B.A. in History from Rice University.

Parents and youth--The rollout of the Elementary, Jr High and High School programs will be a gradual process, one group at a time, beginning with a period of planning, gathering resources, and finding and training volunteers.    Input from youth and their families would be extremely helpful during the planning phases!   Send your suggestions and comments to Sofia at This email address is being protected from spambots. The "MARVELOUS MYSTERY VBS" had 96 youth ages 4 yrs-6th grade attending and 8 infants/toddlers were in the Nursery!

We had a blast playing detective as we discovered clues and learned more about Jesus, the Eucharist and the Mass.

Many thanks to Frs. Guillermo and Rudy for sharing their time with us.  Kim (Catholic Worker House) and Rose (Domestic Violence Intervention Project) spoke to us Friday about answering the Call to serve the Lord in their respective agencies.

We enjoyed singing songs at the Friday’s Prayer Service and ended VBS with a Pizza Party!
